I'm gonna try and to this in a two part post. I'll be adding things as I go, so please be patient.
I think one of the things that most people ask, are what soul capture
skill is required, so I'm going to put up a quick list in the second
post to reserve the space
Being a Tamer requires patience and dedication.
On any new character, the first time you get into Freedom Harbour, you
can speak to Ethrine (Pet Dealer) located in Libra Bizarre (Next to
Hicks)
She will give you a quest and the skill "Basic Soul Catching" You can
use this to capture souls from the areas listed in the post below.
To actually become a full time Tamer, you will need to reach lv35, and have an available job point.
If you have met the above requirements, and you feel the urge to rescue
souls from the evil monsters and tame them as your pets, then you can
speak to the Wind Dancer (Tamer Tutor) in Alameda Park who will give you
the skill "Advanced Soul Catching"

IF you take Construction Quests from the Tamer NPC, do NOT do the Rachel/TImmy Dailies until the end, as the Tamer NPC has been known to ask for Turtle/Sheep/Wolf Soul Stones

What happens when you get to Tamer lv2 or lv3?
tamer lv1 0/320 - you become a Tamer at lv35 where you will receive the skill Advance Soul Catchin lv1
tamer lv2 320/960 - can buy Advanced Soul Catching lv2 Skill when character is lv45
tamer lv3 960/2240 - can buy Advance Soul Catching lv3 Skill when charactyer is lv65
Additional Incubation Slots
When you reach tamer lv2 you can buy an additional incubation slot for 10G
When you reach tamer lv3 you can buy an additional incubation slot for 15G
